The project increases the plant's flexibility by enabling the reception and handling of a wider range of dusty biomass materials under controlled conditions.
The system is built around a 25 m³ reception pit, where trucks can tip biomass directly into the pit. From there, the material is conveyed by four extraction screw conveyors to a 23-metre bucket elevator, which transports the biomass to a distribution screw conveyor feeding the existing storage silos.
The reception system has a handling capacity of up to 60 m³/h for pellets and 100 m³/h for more cohesive biomass materials, providing greater flexibility in the types of feedstock that can be processed.
To reduce dust emissions during unloading, the system is equipped with an extraction system with a capacity of 16,000 m³/h, contributing to a safer and cleaner working environment.
Nordic SRO provided automation and electrical engineering support for the project, including electrical tendering, ongoing site supervision, PLC programming and support, IGSS SCADA, cold commissioning, commissioning, and support related to ATEX requirements. The control system is based on a Siemens S7-300 PLC, while Danfoss FC 303 variable frequency drives communicate via Profibus.
The mechanical equipment was supplied by Grainas, and the project was completed through close collaboration between all project partners.
